I don’t fight pirates and sail through the night,
Or even find my true love at first sight.
I don’t go to school to learn magic and potions,
I don’t fly on brooms or create big commotions.
I don’t meet vampires, werewolves, and such.
I’m not at risk of breaking with one single touch.
I don’t send little children to school in the sky,
To learn to fight aliens so that we don’t all die.
I don’t have wings to soar high over land.
I don’t need to know how to fix a broken hand.
But maybe, just maybe, it’s not all that it seems,
Maybe I can do great things with my own goals, and dreams.
Maybe high school and life is all it really takes,
To get through this endeavor with joys and heartaches.
My friends and my family and all those that care,
My enemies and rivals, who’ll always be there.
Maybe, just maybe, they provide thrill enough,
And help me along when the going gets tough.
Maybe my life is more fun than it looks.
Maybe, just maybe... but I still like those books.
